OPPORTUNITIES
Project Coordinator Position:
Who should apply? Dr. Antonio Polo and his team from the Culture and Evidence-Based Practice Lab at DePaul University are recruiting individuals interested in a part-time (15-20 hours/week) research assistant/project coordinator (RA/PC) position for a school-based intervention implementation project.
What is the project about? Our current project identifies at-risk youth (ages 10-14 years) and provides them with a group-based skills-building program at their schools. The program, called Act & Adapt, teaches coping strategies to children and adolescents of low income, predominantly ethnic minority backgrounds enrolled in Chicago Public Schools. We train and support providers (e.g., school social workers) who are delivering this intervention.
What are the responsibilities? RA/PCs play a key role in the management and logistics of the project by conducting assessments, guiding other research team members, and putting together progress reports. They also receive training in Act & Adapt.
What are the benefits? Students can get involved by supporting graduate student theses and developing and evaluating research ideas of their own. RA/PCs have been co-authors in poster presentations and have written articles using our data. Paid positions may be available. They also receive training in Act & Adapt.
